This class was the best class ever!!!! Mrs Pioche and James were our instructors for the day. The lesson was about Excel/Spread Sheet.
The class was first asked to do an acrostic on the word "SPEADSHEET". Words such as S- Space, P-practice, R-Record, E-Enter, A-Average, D-Data, S-Single, H-Highlight, E-Edit, E-Electronic and T- Title.
After we watched a very interested video on Spread Sheet. Actually it was a power point on the parts of Spread Sheet, Excel. Then we were given a worksheet to label the parts of the spread sheet. Mrs Pioche and James, used a method like passing or throwing around a piece of paper to get every one to participate in the class. It was quite exciting.
For the next class, we watched another video on "How to create a Grade Book." It was my very first time creating a grade book on excel. From what I learned, teachers used grade book on excel to collect and store data of students. For example students name, graded assignments, test and exam grades. Excel can calculate total points, percentage/ average and letter grades.
For us to know how to manipulate excel, we were asked to create a simple "if" function on our own and then after we were taught how to create a "if" function.
For Example:
Formula Description (Result)=
IF(A2>89,"A",IF(A2>79,"B", IF(A2>69,"C",IF(A2>59,"D","F"))))Assigns a letter grade to the first score (F)
IF(A3>89,"A",IF(A3>79,"B", IF(A3>69,"C",IF(A3>59,"D","F"))))Assigns a letter grade to the second score (A)
IF(A4>89,"A",IF(A4>79,"B", IF(A4>69,"C",IF(A4>59,"D","F"))))Assigns a letter grade to the third score (C)
and so forth.
Near the end, we used the data to create a graph and a pie chart.. we manipulated the graph/pie chart... e.g. formatting cell, alignment, texture, colour etc. It was fun!!!!!
It was an enlightening class. I learned a lot in such a short time. GREAT JOB ladies!!!!
Thank you for a very in-depth reflection.
